Journeywork

Conversation & Comradeship

Spiritual Journeywork is what I call the practice of joining you in your most pressing quests, questions, or contemplations — particularly those that call for more free-form conversation and sharing, rather than the structure of an astrology or oracle reading. We can read a sacred text, talk about art, brainstorm about a situation, or just be and breathe together. Nothing is too small and insignificant, or too big and unknowable. Based on my own experience of walking pilgrimages — both literal and metaphorical — I know how valuable it can be to have a friend to part of the journey.

The word " journeywork" comes from Walt Whitman's famous poem, "Song of Myself."

I believe a leaf of grass is no less than the journey-work of the stars,

And the pismire is equally perfect, and a grain of sand, and the egg of the wren,

And the tree-toad is a chef-d'oeuvre for the highest,

And the running blackberry would adorn the parlors of heaven,

And the narrowest hinge in my hand puts to scorn all machinery...
